This scent is very special to us, since it was designed entirely by our dear friend Jasmine. She was 27 years old and known to her friends and family as "Jazz." That nickname suited her well because she was a petite firecracker. She was funny, spunky, loud, bubbly, self-sacrificing, loyal, and extremely hard working. She always put on a brave face, her biggest smile and her unique sense of humor. Even on her worst days she worked hard at helping others and making them smile.
Jazz started working for PSS as a young teenager, running the farmer's market stand. We traveled to craft shows in Montana, Idaho, Utah and Arizona in the early years of PSS and we had a blast doing them. She was a natural at selling soap and our customers loved her. And she loved every aspect of the soap making business. She has assisted me in making all of the soap in the last few years and had just gotten to the point where she felt confident enough to make soap on her own. She was pretty thrilled about that!
Jasmine was extremely excited when her creation was launched (with another name) during our annual Black Friday sale in 2023. Our customers loved it, and it isn't hard to smell why. The scent is a sophisticated blend that includes Orange Cognac intertwined with the seductive allure of bergamot and the rich, golden warmth of amber to create a scent you will fall in love with.
The loss of our dear friend will always be felt in this small business. She faced many traumatic events in her young life that took a large toll on her mental and emotional health. It eventually became a burden that was too heavy for her to carry. Due to her own battle with these inner struggles, she was very empathetic to others who were facing similar struggles which made her a strong advocate for suicide prevention and awareness.
$1.00 per bar sold will go to the cause that was near and dear to Jasmine's heart in the form of a donation to charities whose mission is to further suicide awareness and prevention. We only donate to charities that are transparent and use the vast majority of funds to further this cause, such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The creation of this soap and it's packaging has been a labor of love. It is stamped with a semicolon and butterfly. The semicolon has become a symbol of hope for people who have battled depression, anxiety and mental illness. And the butterfly represents resilience and transformation. The color is still a work in progress as I experiment to achieve that perfect shade of teal that represents the bright light that was my precious girl, Jazz.
Your support is deeply appreciated!
